King Charles III has raised concerns over what he calls the “existential dangers” of artificial intelligence, urging stronger safeguards and human control.

On September 17, while hosting top AI executives at Scotland's Dumfries House, where tech leaders convened to talk about AI safety, the King made these statements.

His caution coincides with mounting worries about AI's quick development and reports of systems acting strangely or getting around security measures during testing.

It's interesting to note that worries about technology endangering humankind are not wholly new. "The Matrix," a science fiction movie from 1999, depicted a future in which machines and artificial intelligence rule humanity! A fictional caution that seems more pertinent to the current AI controversy.

The key question that still needs to be answered as AI develops and changes industries, research, and medicine is whether it is progressing too quickly and how humanity can maintain control over such powerful technology.
